We took Kohen to Children's on Wednesday to have the deflux procedure. He could not have anything other than clear items to eat or drink after midnight Tuesday night. He woke up Wednesday morning and didn't even ask for his milk. We were able to give him some pedialyte, jello and a popsicle for breakfast. He was a sticky mess but enjoyed the unusual treat.
We arrived early at the hospital and they called him back right away. They gave him crayons, coloring sheets, playdough and a Mr. Potato Head and put us in a room to watch cartoons.
The anestheiologist came in to ask us if he needed anything to calm him before he went back...but to her surprise, he was just sitting in the bed as happy as could be. He never once asked for anything to eat or drink.
At 12:45, our sweet friend, April, came and took him back to the OR. About an hour later Dr. Herndon told us that he did great and the procedure went as planned. He said he could still see where he had done the deflux procedure last July and it looked good.
About 2:15, they brought Kohen to us. As soon as he was in the room, he wanted his daddy to hold him and he wanted the IV out of his foot! He drank some fruit punch and was ready to go. He was such a sweet boy. He ran a little fever that night but was ready to go the next day.
We will return in one month for follow-up tests to see how his bladder and left kidney are functioning.
God is so good...we have been blessed to see His awesome healing power displayed in the life of Kohen. He has answered so many prayers large and small. He really does bear our burdens and load us with benefits.
